Arab seminary safe after Beirut fighting

BEIRUT, Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon (BP)--The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary located outside Beirut, Lebanon, sustained no damage after fighting broke out between Hezbollah militia and the Lebanese government May 8.

The capital city remains tense. Hezbollah began pulling out of western Beirut May 12. However, the death toll continues to climb as the fighting moves into the northern port city of Tripoli. Many inhabitants are fleeing to Cyprus.

News sources say this is the worst violence the small country has faced since their 15-year civil war ended in 1991.

Baptist educator Finlay Graham founded the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in 1960.
