Spoken so eloquently Dr. Jordan points all of us to the most important part of THE CREEK, the invitation. What a way to leave a lasting legacy in our lives, to build up young people, adults and even senior adults to a climactic moment in their life when God speaks to them and they respond. It is an unbelievable working of the supernatural. It is a HOLY SPIRIT encounter with the Jehovah and King of Kings woven like a tapestry in to the hearts who will serve for the rest of their lives, Jesus. May God forever place His incredible hand of the Holy Spirit on "the invitation" which makes Revelation 3:20 so applicable. I am glad at Falls Creek, the young people have a door to enter in to an air conditioned facility that opens up the door of their heart to accept His love. To God be the glory for the great things He has done. It is ONLY the beginning. Wait and see how BIG God's plan is and we can all stand in wonder. In His Name.

You may call this a letter of concern to the editor, a message to pass on to those in charge of the Falls Creek youth camp facility, or the beginning of a forum for discussion for those who've been to honestly express their views, both positive and negative, of the new facility. I Logged on to the Baptist Messenger to share the concerns I have heard from recent attendees [I have never been, nor am I a Baptist], when I read this front-page article about the new facility. The author praised the sense of the Spirit of the Lord in the facility, and closed by remarking that it was the finest and perhaps largest youth camp facility anywhere. Well, here come the concerns I have heard from several people, young(16and up) and old(late 40's and up), who had faithfully attended youth camp at Falls Creek and recently visited the new facility. One told me that there is a new admission charge to pay for the outrageous utility bills for this facility, but they ALL separately echoed the same sentiment that they thought that the new facility didn't carry the same sense of the Spirit that the old one had, and they were very disappointed. They felt that they were entering some posh concert hall, not some hallowed place of the works of God. I have never gone to any such camp, because I was not raised a Christian. I really am not in the position to judge based on any experience, but I get the sense that one of the benefits of youth camp is the escape to the bare essentials of life, and experiencing God without man's trappings, nor the comforts of the rich city exported into the deep woods. It's kind of like going on a retreat in the middle of downtown, or traveling to foreign lands to see the culture only to eat at KFC and McDonald's, spiritually speaking. I personally, and I know I am wierd for this, would have no use for some chilly air-conditioned facility when on a camping trip-bring me the singing birds, breezes blowing, and solitude with the Holy Ghost. I encourage all of you with comments about the new facility to forward them here and to the powers that be at Falls Creek.

My family and I were honored to serve as camp missionaries for a 15-association childrens' camp in summer of 2006 at Falls Creek, where I became a believer and where my wife and I both recognized the Lord's call on the life of EVERY believer to be on mission with Him as a lifestyle of obedience and discipleship. While at the camp, we witnessed the ongoing construction of the new tabernacle. I was reminded of the Psalmist's words "the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof". It does not matter if Falls Creek worship occurs under a tree, in a tent, in an old rustic wooden tabernacle, or in a nice new air-conditioned tabernacle---it all belongs to Him because the earth is His...there is no such thing as one place being more 'sacred' than another, if we really accept that the earth is the Lord's. All space is holy space because it belongs to God. Do I like an air-conditioned building? As an Oklahoman in an Oklahoma summer climate, yes...but I also regularly worship in house churches and outside here in Ufa, Russia where our family serves as team leader for our IMB team of church planters. Those house churches are just as holy as an open or closed tabernacle--the old tabernacle was not more of a spiritual setting than the new one. Yes, I have wonderful memories of the old tabernacle, since it is the setting in which the Holy Spirit swept through those Arbuckle mountains and called me to repentance and relationship with God and then into conscious awareness of my necessary obedience to be on mission with God. However, I will neither worship nor denigrate either the old or new tabernacle settings...they both belong to God because the earth is His and all space is holy space.

I read this article and I have to say... I couldn't have said it better myself! This was my first year at Falls Creek. My husband and I are adult leaders in our churches Youth Group and were asked to go by the Youth Pastor and some of the students. Although there were some things going on in our personal life that made us question whether or not we should go at this time, we decided to take a step of Faith and go because we truly felt God pulling us to go. I have to say... the blessings I received from attending Falls Creek as a sponsor was something amazing... something I will never forget as long as I live. I went with the mindset that I was sponsor and I was going to "witness" some amazing things and be there to encourage students as God called them. I had NO IDEA that I would not only witness God moving in a way I had NEVER see before... but that I would FEEL GOD MOVING in my own life as well! I was VERY humbled that week and God reminded me during that time that I needed to TRUST HIM. Not only with the things that are easy to trust him with... but with the things that are hard to let go of, such as being in control! God reminded me that I AM NOT IN CONTROL and that HE IS! That it's okay to lean on him because He is ALWAYS there for me. God reassured me in SO MANY ways that I am serving Him where I am supposed to be serving Him even if sometimes it doesn't make sense to me... And I am SO BLESSED to know that I am right where God wants me to be... and forget MY PLANS... for HIS ARE MUCH BETTER!!! "Ruin my life, the plans that I've made... Ruin desires for my own selfish gain... Destroy the idols that have taken your place... Until it's you along I live for... YOU ALONE I LIVE FOR!" In His Precious Name, Tashia and for Mr. James England... You can never understand the blessing that Falls Creek really is unless you go there. You should go next year... you will be glad that you did! How's that old saying go? "Don't knock it 'til you've tried it" ... Said out of love! TMS :o)

I just want to say I too had mixed feelings about tearing down the old open air tabernacle to build a new, larger, more comfortable place to worship at Falls Creek. I was so wrong. I was mostly basing my feelings on all the good memories at Falls Creek. I began going as a cook for our church group when my children were teenagers. I now go with my grandchildren as a cook. I have sat through nights in the old tabernacle and watched many people carried out because of the extreme heat and no breeze. You HAD to take water with you and a misting fan if you were smart. This usually meant that kids, especially those who were there for reasons other than worshiping God, spent a good part of their time not listening to what was being said in song or by the preacher. We have always had awesome preachers at Falls Creek. Granted, the music is not necessarily my style, but if it gets the message of Christ across to these kids I can listen to it for the half hour or so that it goes on. In the new tabernacle, I have been very pleasantly surprised at the way our young people do listen, and I believe that is due a great deal to the fact that they are not suffering from the heat. I do miss having the choir and hope that it will return in the future. If you have never heard 300 to 400 young people raising their voices to praise God, you have missed a great blessing. I believe we had a glimpse of what the angels will sound like when we get to Heaven. So, I say praise God for the new tabernacle; and if it means having to pay more to cover the cost of cooling the facilities, what price do we put on one soul that might receive Christ because they are comfortable enough to be listening to what the preacher or songs are saying instead of just trying to keep cool.

I am excited to hear all the positive comments about the new facility. I thought it important to share the concerns others had shown me, but I am glad others have had truly life-changing experiences there. Praise the Lord! James
