I am a missionary who works with many different language groups. I am comfortable in a meeting where multiple languages are spoken. For the most part, I can follow all the conversations. Yet I have the hardest time understanding English dialects from different regions of the United States!

I laughed out loud when I read this story. I was raised in southern Illinois, born in Ky, but have lived in OK for nearly 40 years. Our large family is scattered between OK and NH, and MN to GA.We have a family reunion in KY each summer and a few years ago I observed one of my nieces from NH talking to a nephew from KY. It was quite interesting listening to them try to communicate!
