This is a wonderful example of "Victory in Jesus". We christians are just dirty, rotten, sinners that are saved by the precious blood of Jesus. Praise God, it is Christ that makes us "white as snow" before God. Once you become a christian, God's spirit comes into our person/spirit thus saving, preserving, and empowering us throughout eternity.
This earthly, carnal, body that we occupy while living on planet Earth is extremely subject to sin and temptation. This is why it is so vital that we read and know God's word. Just like in this article the man knew what was right to do because he had taken in and absorbed the word of God. You can be assured that he experienced a huge battle within his person, once he eventually did what God wanted and "did not" do what his earthly body and feelings were telling him to do. Most of the time throughout our lives our human feelings and emotions can greatly mislead us. This is Satan's strong hold, that is, attacking our human weaknesses through our feelings and emotions. If we go with what we know to be true and not what we feel then this will enable us to become better christian workers and witnesses.
To this man, his biggest challenge was homosexual tendencies. We all have things in our own lives that tend to lead us astray and distance us from God. It could be various addictions (to name a few) such as, over eating or eating junk food, (our body is the temple of God and we are to take care of it) gossiping, foul language, being rude and hateful, not praying for and witnessing to the lost, consumption of drugs and alcohol, gambling, lying, cheating, pornography, adultery, Abortion, etc.
A true Christian will be the first to tell you that he or she is the chief of "all" sinners. They are fully aware of what the sin potential is for their human body and they know that a person cannot let down their guard, not even for one second out of a day (there are 1,440 seconds in one day). Christians are to be in this world, but not of it. There should be a clear distinction between a Christian's life and that of the world. We are to love everyone in the world and should strive to share the good-news to such in efforts to bring them to salvation through faith in Jesus.
